me in a nutshell

If people asks me who I am, I identify myself a bit different than usual.
I am an Italian from Down Under, an Australian with Italian roots, but it’s ok you can call me Kalabrisella

Though I was born in Marvellous Melbourne, my parents took me to Calabria in Italy when I was two.
I lived in Messignadi (Reggio Calabria) until I was 17 and then we come back to live in OZ.

I consider myself very lucky, I had the fortune of growing up in a small Italian village with all my cousins and learn about life from  my nonna and nonno.

From an early age I was allowed to help nonna in the kitchen, while nonno would tell me stories about the old days or his days as a prisoner of war.

Growing up I understood that while the stories of our Calabrese history were the same, the recipes would be different from town to town.
In effect they were given down from generations and kept them very secretive.

My hips can testify for my love of good food and my curiosity and hunger of learning my love for my culture.

I hope you will enjoy my posts and return happily to keep me company
